Chris Schlarb, maybe you’ve heard of him? If you’ve enjoyed any of the music in Night Game thus far then you better know Chris. He’s the man responsible for the ethereal soundtrack intended as a compliment to Nicklas’ art, design and general direction for the game.

Gamasutra/GameSetWatch’s Jeriaska had the chance to combine some serious music superpowers in the form of Chris (Night Game), Baiyon (PixelJunk Eden), Vince Diamante (Flowe) and Shaw-Han Liem (Proud). Unlike a traditional interview, the musicians hung out, drank Pepsi and talked about blazing balls.

Read the whole Indie VGM Roundtable story at GameSetWatch.. You can also read more about Chris at Gamasutra with their recent story, Rolling with the Sounds of Night Game. Congrats Chris!

In other related news, Nicklas is currently enjoying the countryside of Sweden along with Yann. We believe that they’re touring bars and cafe in Sweden performing Gunther, Inga, Basshunter, Ace of Base, Roxette and Europe covers. Awesome!

As I was selected this overdue art comparison the realization came to me: it’s difficult choosing a good art comparison without spoiling something for you. There are so many things we want to show you, but we’d rather you experience them on your own.

Well, here’s Kazuma. Side-by-side the changes done by Amaya-san are pretty huge, but still remain consistent with the original style and charm.

Hello! It’s been a long three weeks. While we’ve been working harder than ever on Cave Story I’ve had the pleasure of taking care of a new addition, our first baby.

We haven’t stopped working one bit on Cave Story. Amaya-san and I literally text-message or e-mail each other multiple times a day to decide important things. Is it Koron or is it Colon? Is it Chaco or is it Chako?

Tiffany what are you up to?
“On the programming front I have more recently spent time tweaking the error handling for the Wii as well as putting the final touches on lotcheck. We are currently in the process of being approved for Nintendo’s Wi-Fi access for the DLC back end stuff. ”

Let’s see, most of the hard stuff is done:
- Remix/original artwork
- Remix/original audio
- Three save files are working great
- Game is running beautifully at 60fps which was the originally intended speed! :)

We still have bugs that need to be fixed. Probably about two dozen or so minor little ones that we need to address.

By the way, did anyone notice that IGN awarded Cave Story something very special, best WiiWare game of E3:

If you don’t know Cave Story yet, get to know it. This cult classic retro game was originally released on PC, and after huge support it’s now on its way to WiiWare in a new slightly upgraded affair. Blending the best elements from titles like Super Metroid and Mega Man, Cave Story is an epic title as far as downloads go. Cave Story may have had some decent competition this year, but only a few select WiiWare games have the power to make us cash in a sick day to play, and Cave Story is just that fun.

It’s been too long since we put up a new screen shot. Here’s a nice one of the hero in Sand Zone with the new missile launcher. Hopefully you like what you see. We’ll do another character comparison later this week.

No, not Pixel–Flixel!

Semi-secretive dude, Adam Saltsman has been busy working on stuff other than artwork for Cave Story and another little game of ours. He’s been building his version of a game maker. I’m far too lazy to explain what it’s about so I just asked him to tell us, “[Flixel] is a free collection of actionscript files that help make it easier to make high performance flash games with a retro aesthetic without using the Adobe Flash IDE.”

Thanks, Adam. Sounds fun! Now go make games at Flixel.org

Look what arrived while we were at E3.

Amaya-san strikes again! This is even cooler than Last Year’s Bday Postcard. It looks like our little hero appears to be growing up.

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes!

天谷さん、 どもありがとうございます!

By now you’ve, hopefully, watched the Night Game trailer. It’s not playable at the show, but another game we’re work on is, Cave Story! Kiosks with various WiiWare games are setup at the showfloor, one of those games is Cave Story.

Like Night Game, Cave Story will also have its own trailer running during the show. As the trailer is intended for trade-only it does technically have a couple of spoilers. Even so, we’ve uploaded the trailer for everyone to look at, just follow the link below. But don’t blame us if you see something you shouldn’t!

See you at the Nintendo booth! (* ^ _^)/

It’s officially the first day of E3! Yes! One of the many trailers E3 attendees will see at the Nintendo booth is for Night Game for WiiWare. We know most of you probably can’t make it to the show so we’ve decided to host the video here, for you to view. Hope you like it.
