IGN posted some videos from last week’s Nintendo Media Summit.
Yes, the sound effects are work-in-progress
And, yes, so is the music.

I like how the game moves smoother, but the new sound effects sound a little out of place, in comparision.
Yeah, but it’s still awesome.

There is an option to revert to original sounds/sprites I hear, I’m not sure if this is true.

Are the graphic effects also a work-in-progress (such as transition effects)?

The physics look different here, too.
I just played the PC version yesterday.
I really like that we will be able to swap and interchange old/new graphics and music, though, DEFINITELY a plus.
Can’t wait to see what other surprises lie in wait.

Oh, and these guys had an interview with GoNintendo and confirmed that, so yes, it does seem to be true, fortunately.
I know this is a work in progress, though. There are a lot of details missing from the original here so I hope those get put back in.

EmThree: I’ve heard this as well…there was an interview with a someone from Nicallis, don’t recall where I read the interview so I’m afraid I can’t tell you more other than that he said you’ll be able to toggle the oldschool/new music and graphics independently.

I’m glad the music is work in progress.
Because it was shit.
That is all.

The music IS disapointing, but it’s most likely due to it being place-holders right now. I did research on the musician who is working on the game (Yann van der Cruyssen) and his music is not wholey midi based. I don’t understand why the main site has a midi piece because that could actually draw people away due to the quality of it but his non-midi music is very ambient and soothing. He’s the same guy who did a lot of music for Nifflas Stories and other games, so I very much doubt he’ll just push out Midi pieces for this game.
